New Cafes for Delhi metro commuters

Good news for delhi metro commuters, now they can buy book, travel accessories, eatables with wide range of food and beverages, electronics and other items at the metro stations. The café shops will come up in the next six months at major delhi metro stations across the National Capital Region. InterGlobe Retail Pvt. Ltd, the retail arm of InterGlobe Enterprises Ltd and Switzerland-based Dufry International AG, has signed an agreement to open retail stores at airports, and metro and train stations in India.

Dufry operates around 500 Hudson News shops in 10 countries around the world which offers a selection of food and beverages, newspapers, magazines, books, confectionery, health and beauty aids, electronics, and mobile recharge and travel accessories.
It is the first time that the Hudson News Cafe, globally-renowned retail chain brand, is making its foray into the growing Indian market. The two will open 48 Hudson News Café in metro stations in Delhi in association with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Dufry International has acquired Hudson News, which is leading travel news, books and convenience retailer in the US.
The metro cafe shops will be located at stations with high footfall; will have a comprehensive and wide selection of food and beverages, newspapers, magazines, books, health & beauty aids, electronics, mobile recharge and travel accessories.

“The cafe area will provide food and beverages ideal for commuters such as quick breakfasts, light meals and so on,” said a DMRC spokesperson. The total contract period will be 15-years and space of about 2,000 square meters has been provided them. “A joint team of InterGlobe Retail and Dufry will work with DMRC to develop the space over the next six months,” added a Delhi Metro official.
Among the 57 shops allotted, 20 are built-up shops while another 37 will be bare sites within the Metro station premises. As part of its property development initiatives, the Delhi Metro has been wooing many other establishments, like McDonalds, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and others, to set up operating kiosks, shops and restaurants in the metro network.

The Hudson News Cafe currently operates more than 500 shops across ten countries across the globe.
Among the 57 shops allotted, 20 are built up shops while another 37 will be bare sites within the Metro station premises.
“The total contract period will be 15 years and about 2,000 square metres have been provided as space to them. A joint team of InterGlobe Retail and Dufry will work with DMRC to develop the space over the next six months,” Dayal said.
Hudson News Café is the first major travel retail brand at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation network.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift 2011 with plastic fuel tanks

The much awaited new Maruti swift will be rolled out from Maruti’s Manesar plant in Haryana and up till now Maruti has not shared the pricing details of all-new Swift 2011.

The car will come with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel variants. It was reported that the new model, built on a slightly longer yet new platform, will be little extra roomy, lighter and return better mileage than the current generation Swift.

Engineers have also achieved a substantial reduction in the overall weight of the car by replacing the metal fuel tank with a plastic tank. This will improve its fuel efficiency by a little over 13 per cent.
This will be the first major face-lift for the Swift since it was launched six years ago. Pricing details of the new car has not been shared by the company.

The petrol variant will return a mileage of around 20 km a litre, as compared to 17.9 km per litre certified by the Automotive Research Association of India. Similarly, the diesel model will deliver around 23.8 km per litre, as against the existing 21 km a litre.

The report stated that for installing the plastic fuel tanks, Maruti Suzuki India has tied up with France’s Plastic Omnium, the world’s largest manufacturer of plastic fuel tanks as it was mentioned that plastic fuel tanks are usually 25-35 per cent lighter than the conventional metal tanks. Besides, these are corrosion-free, durable, non-explosive and easily recyclable.
The Swift which is available now in petrol, diesel and CNG versions and priced between Rs 3.9-5.5 lakh, sells close to 12,000 units every month. It recorded a growth of 21 per cent last year selling over 140,000 units as against 116,000 units sold in the previous year.

The Swift accounts for about 25 per cent of the hatchback segment, and competes with Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia, Nissan Micra, Fiat Punto and Toyota Liva. It was also mentioned that Maruti is also preparing to launch a new Swift Dzire, which will be cheaper and will probably hit the market by early 2012.

1.ARTHRITIS:
Take one part honey to two parts of luke warm water and add a small teaspoon of cinnamon powder, make a paste and massage it on the itching part of the body slowly. It is noticed that the pain recedes within a minute or two. Or arthritis patients may daily, morning and night take one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If drunk regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research done at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon cinnamon powder before breakfast. They found that within a week out of the 200 people so treated practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain and within a month. Mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

2.HAIR LOSS:
Those suffering from hair loss or baldness, may apply a paste of hot olive oil, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder before bath and keep it for approx. 15 min. and then wash the hair. It was found very effective if kept for 5 mins. also.

3.BLADDER INFECTIONS:
Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of luke warm water and drink it. It destroys the germs of the bladder.

4.TOOTHACHE:
Make a paste of one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and five teaspoons of honey and apply on the aching tooth. This may be done 3 times a day daily till such time that the tooth has stopped aching.

4.CHOLESTEROL:
Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, if given to a cholesterol patient, it reduces the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10% within 2 hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken 3 times a day any chronic cholesterol is cured. As per the information received in the said journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complains of cholesterol.

5.COLDS:
Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon luke warm honey with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder daily for 3 days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold and clear the sinuses.

How to upgrade the Samsung Galaxy Ace to Android 2.3?

The Android 2.3 upgrade for the Ace has to come from Samsung through official channels — i.e. Samsung’s own OTA (over the air) update.

Before the official update is out, if you try to root the phone or install another version of 2.3 — the warranty will be voided. In case your phone is bricked (software damage) during the process, it will not be repaired under warranty.

To check whether the official update for the Ace is available — look in the settings for ’software update’ (in the about phone section).

Sometimes, software updates are also delivered via Kies (Samsung’s PC software). If you don’t have Kies, download and install it from www.samsung.com (support section ), and then connect the phone to the PC to check for updates.

HTC ignite the Indian tablet PC market by launching its new HTC flyer table PC in Indian market. HTC Flyer has to compete with the already existing and much hyped tablet PC players such as Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and Apple iPad. Interestingly, the official launch of HTC Flyer coincides with BlackBerry’s PlayBook tablet launch. Microsoft launching it’s own-brand tablet PC

Microsoft is considering making its own tablet PC the company is working with Texas Instruments and Taiwan-based OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to produce the tablet. Microsoft, meanwhile, hasn’t commented on the reports.

Microsoft is reportedly considering to launch an own-brand tablet PC that features Windows 8 by the end of 2012 with cooperation from Texas Instruments and Taiwan-based OEMs/ODMs, according to sources from the upstream supply chain. However, Microsoft did not confirm the rumor.

Facing Apple’s iOS and App Store successful assistance in helping iPhone and iPad to gain shares in the smartphone, tablet PC and even PC market, while Google has also been working aggressively on developing operating systems and establishing its own supply chain alliance, Microsoft plans to copy its branding strategy from product lines such as Xbox 360, Zune, Kin smartphone and TV, to compete in the tablet PC segment.

Although Microsoft has been seeking business opportunities outside of PC-related markets and is aggressively launching own-brand products, Xbox 360 is currently the only own-brand product line that Microsoft has achieved success, while Zune media player, Kin smartphone and own-brand TVs all had unsatisfactory performance. However, Microsoft is still considering to launch an own-brand tablet PC and is proceeding on a low profile, the sources noted.

The sources pointed out that despite the plans to launch its own-brand tablet PC, Microsoft will continue to push its IDP plans for Windows 8.

As for the reaction from Microsoft’s system clients, the sources pointed out that the system vendors’ dissatisfaction with Microsoft launching own-brand tablet PCs is unlikely to impact Microsoft significantly in the short term.
