The Dhauladhar is about 13,000 ft from the valley floor. The wide Kangra Valley, with its well-watered terraces, is simply superb. The stretch between Baijnath (renowned for its ancient Shiva temple) and Joginder Nagar is the steepest. Here the train moves at a snail’s pace till it reaches the highest point on the track at Ahju.

PRIME Tourist Attractions:
Brajeshwari Devi Temple (Bajeshwari Devi Temple): Known once for its legendary wealth of diamonds and pearls, this temple was subject to successive depredation by invaders from the North. Mohammed of Ghazni is known to have departed with a king’s ransom in gold, silver and jewels in 1009. Earthquake of 1905 destroyed it completely. Rebuilt in the present form in 1920, it continues to be a busy place of pilgrimage.
Kangra Fort: The remains of the fort of the Kotch Raja’s of Kangra are located on a strategic height, overlooking the Ban Ganga and Manjhi rivers. At the top of the fort there was also a place of the Kotch kings. The earthquake of 1905 in Kangra destroyed both the palace and the fort. It is now in its ruins.
Jawalamukhi: 30-km from Kangra, 56-km from Dharamsala, near the Beas river and on the side of cliff, is one of Hindu dome most famous shrines. Built against the side of a rocky spur, the temple is dedicated to the manifestation of the Devi of fire also called the “Flaming Goddess”.
Sansarchand Museum: Situated next to the Kangra fort. Tilakraj Aishwarya Katoch and his rani Tilakraj Shailaja Katoch have built the museum in memory of their ancestor Raja Sansarchand, one of the most successful Katoch King and the great exponent of the Kangra Paintings.
ADVENTURE SPORTS
The Kangra Valley offers exciting opportunities for trekking, rock climbing, mountaineering and fishing. The Kangra Valley is the proverbial home of various fishes such as Mahaseer as also the Malli, Soal, Bachwa, Gid and Shingra.

For those looking for adventure, greenery, fresh air and loads of fun with nature, then Sariska National park is the place for you. Sariska National Park is situated on the Delhi-Alwar-Jaipur Road. Sariska National Park, located at a distance of around thirty-five kilometers from the city of Alwar and is a favorite place among the tourists arriving from all parts of the world. Surrounded by the barren Aravalli hills, Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district is one of Rajasthan’s popular wildlife destinations.

Sariska National Park is among the most coveted national parks in Rajasthan and the park covers a total area of 866 square kilometers with an approximately 500 square kilometers of core area.
It is a tiger reserve and comes under the “Project Tiger”. Sariska was established in 1955 and declared a National Park in 1979. The Sariska Tiger Reserve is among the 28 Tiger reserves in the country which have come up since 1970. The landscape of Sariska comprises of narrow hills and valleys of the Aravali. This wide forest has a rich flora and fauna and every wildlife enthusiast must visit this place.
Besides tiger one can see animals like hyena, jackals, leopard, neel gai, sambar, jungle cat, rhesus monkeys and langurs. If you are interested in bird watching you can find birds like woodpecker, goldenback, lapwings, kingfisher, etc near the lakes. Amongst the birds, ground birds such as Peafowl, Jungle fowl, Spur fowl and the Grey partridge; Golden – backed woodpecker, Green pigeon, Crested serpent eagle, Great Indian horned owl and Tree pies can be seen. Babblers, Bulbuls are regularly caught sight of.
Visitors can take a motor ride around the park to explore the dense forest. This rich forest reserve is among one of the best wildlife photography zones in India. Don’t forget to visit the Kankwari Fort and the ancient temples which are inside the sanctuary. Neelkanth and Padupol temples remain open round the year.
Sariska Park remains cool in winter, so the most ideal time to visit is between October to February. Forest fires are common in summer.
How to reach Sariska National park

Sariska is easy to reach and well connected to Delhi. Just 200 kilometers away, Sariska can be reached in around 4-5 hours by road. Tourists can hire a taxi or travel by bus.
