India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has launched limited edition of its iconic premium hatchback small car Swift; celebrating landmark achievement of selling one million cars in a year.

Limited edition Maruti Swift called as “Swift one million edition”, available in a specially created goldsmith black color scheme with added graphics externally and only 1000 units of limited edition swift will be available. It will be available in Vi version (Petrol) at a price of Rs. 483,079 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The interior of the Swift One Million Edition has leather seats, cushions, foot-mats and special integrated audio system with USB and speakers.

Global automakers Renault are planning to launch five new car models in India and planning to boost investment in the country. French auto major Renault on Thursday said that it will launch five cars in India between 2011 and 2013.
The compact car segment in India is said to be more than 70 present of total car market. Narrow roads, heavy traffic and lower prices make compact cars attractive to the country’s rising middle class families. Renault will introduced hatchback in the competitve B class segment by the mid 2012. Renault is developing small cars with its Japanese partner Nissan and will be produced at the Nissan plant in Chennai.

‘All the cars, including the small car will be produced at the Nissan factory in Chennai,’ Nassif added. The Renault is also planning to launch its premium car Fluence and the Koleos in the domestic market in mid-2011.

The top Indian carmaker Maruti Suzuki still leading with their major competitors such as Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Volkswagen and Ford. Maruti Suzuki holds a 54.2 percent stake in the lucrative small-car sector and their newly launched Maruti K-10 also appealing to the small families. General Motors’ Chevrolet Beat and Ford’s Figo compact cars have already seen runaway sales so far this year. Nissan starts selling their compact car Micra since June.

So, there seems to fierce competition for Renault, but yes the small market segment is very open and customers are willing to adopt new cars.

Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd unveiled its 125CC bike “SlingShot” today in Indian market. Suzuki’s slingshot bike is seems to be upgraded version of Suzuki Zeus and have 125cc single cylinder engine borrowed from Zeus. Suzuki has paid special attention to the looks of the bike as it resembles to Suzuki GS 150R a little bit. Suzuki positioned slingshot in between 100C and 150CC bikes and targeted the Indian bikers who looks for both style and efficiency.
The Suzuki’s slingshot engine is capable to bring a peak power of 8.7PS @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10Nm @ 3500 rpm. The bike has 5 speed gearbox with 1 down 4 up pattern same as Zeus. India’s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti launched five of its model Alto, Estilo, Eco, WagonR and SX4 with factory fitted CNG system. Maruti unveiled its flagship CNG engine technology, ‘intelligent-Gas Port Injection’ or i-GPI on five popular models. The new CNG models from Maruti will be available in Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat.
The CNG versions are priced between Rs 3.25 lakh – Rs 7.47 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and said to save around 40-60 percent of transportation cost.

Maruti Suzuki India, India’s car market leader, launched a new version of best selling small car Alto. Alto K10 priced between Rs.3.03 and Rs.3.16 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Alto launched in two version Alto k10 Lxi and Alto-k10 Vxi on introductory price of INR 3.03 Lakh and 3.16 Lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. This Cruze uses a 6speed Automatic Gear-box which GM calls as the Hydramatic 6T40 transmission.
